Bulawayo – 10 December 2025

Residents of Nkulumane are set to engage directly with aspiring legislators this morning as the Nkulumane Constituency By-Election Town Hall Debate takes place at Nkulumane Hall from 9am to 1pm.

The event, organised ahead of the 20 December 2025 by-election, brings together all candidates vying to represent the constituency, providing a rare opportunity for voters to assess the contenders side by side, hear their policy positions, and ask questions about issues affecting the community.

A total of nine candidates are billed to participate in the debate. These include independent hopefuls, party representatives from established political organisations, and candidates from emerging parties. Their photographs and party affiliations are prominently displayed on the event poster circulating widely on social media and community platforms.

The debate is expected to draw a sizeable crowd, with residents eager to discuss pressing local issues such as service delivery, housing, youth unemployment, community safety, and infrastructure development. Organisers say the forum is designed to “promote transparency, accountability, and informed voting.”

The event is supported by several civic organisations, including the Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA), the Election Resource Centre, the Nkulumane Constituency Development Committee, and CITE, which will also livestream the proceedings on YouTube and Facebook for those unable to attend in person.

As Nkulumane prepares for this crucial by-election, today’s debate is expected to play a key role in shaping voter perceptions and helping residents make informed decisions ahead of the polls.
