Tap & Go has officially rolled out its smart transport service in Bulawayo, marking a major step in the company’s expansion as Zimbabwe pushes toward more digital and technology-driven urban mobility.
The launch was overseen by Minister of ICT Tatenda Matevera, with support from Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works Albert Mavunga. Their presence signaled government backing for efforts to modernize the country’s transport systems through digital platforms and reliable connectivity.
Tap & Go’s entry into Bulawayo introduces app-based ride requests, digital payments and a platform designed to reduce waiting times and improve commuter convenience. The service is built on rapid network connectivity, including Starlink-powered systems, and aims to offer consistent, user-friendly urban mobility.
The expansion positions Bulawayo as a key market for Tap & Go as it scales operations beyond earlier deployments. The company’s model focuses on driver onboarding, transparent fares, predictable pickups and enhanced rider experience, including modern in-vehicle features.
The launch comes at a time when many urban commuters face challenges such as congestion, unreliable schedules and inconsistent service from traditional transport options. Tap & Go is expected to provide an alternative that integrates technology with everyday travel needs.
