President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa this morning received credentials from Ms. Katrin Hagemann, the newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Zimbabwe, marking a significant step in ongoing engagement efforts between Harare and Brussels.

The ceremony, held at State House, forms part of Zimbabwe’s continued diplomatic outreach under the government’s “Engagement and Re-Engagement” policy.

Following the presentation of her credentials, Ambassador Hagemann expressed enthusiasm about beginning her mission in Zimbabwe, describing the posting as an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the EU and Zimbabwe.

She pledged to prioritise expanded trade, investment, humanitarian support, and development cooperation, while working closely with the government on areas such as good governance, economic reforms, and debt clearance efforts.

Ambassador Hagemann also revealed that she has begun learning Shona as part of her commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and better connecting with Zimbabweans.

Her arrival comes at a crucial time, as Zimbabwe seeks deeper international re-engagement and as the EU continues to support various sectors including health, agriculture, climate resilience, and governance reforms.
