Bulawayo – The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has officially reopened the newly upgraded Montrose Studios, marking a significant advancement for the country’s broadcasting and creative industries.
The facility was commissioned today by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Hon. Dr. Jenfan Muswere, who presided over the event on behalf of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The revamped studios now feature state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment, including robotic cameras, 4K-capable production systems, AI-integrated technologies, and virtual and augmented reality sets. These modern upgrades position Montrose as one of Zimbabwe’s most advanced production centres, significantly enhancing the country’s capacity for high-quality audio-visual content creation.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Muswere said the redevelopment of Montrose Studios demonstrates the Government’s commitment to modernising media infrastructure and supporting the growth of the creative sector. He added that the investment is expected to empower young artists, filmmakers, and content creators in Bulawayo and beyond.
Industry professionals have welcomed the studio’s reopening, saying it will expand opportunities for local talent, boost content quality, and attract new production projects to the city. Many believe the upgrade will help cement Bulawayo’s long-standing reputation as a cultural and artistic hub.
The reopening forms part of ongoing national efforts to improve digital broadcasting, strengthen local content production, and create employment opportunities within the creative economy. With Montrose Studios now fully equipped with modern technology, stakeholders say the future of Zimbabwean broadcasting looks more innovative, competitive, and inclusive.
