The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) has announced the opening of its voting platform for the People's Choice Award. This year's event, themed "Afro Futurism," promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Zimbabwean art and culture.
The voting platform is now live on the Gateway Stream Website, allowing the public to cast their votes for their favourite artists. Voting will close on February 5, 2025.
The People's Choice Award is a special category that allows the public to recognize outstanding contributions to the arts. The top five nominees will be announced after the voting period closes.
This year's NAMA promises to be an evening of glamour, excitement, and celebration of Zimbabwean art and culture. The event is slated to take place on March 1, 2025, at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Spokesperson Agga Nyabinde told Byo Arts News Online (BANO) that:
"Afro Futurism is about embracing our heritage and using it as a springboard to create something new and exciting"
"We're looking forward to seeing how our artists interpret this theme and push the boundaries of what's possible."
